Best, Fast, Easy- Soup Additions

The broths above can be used in anything.  They are unseasoned.  But can you flavor the broth while you are making it?  Heck yeah.  Here are some ideas.

For chicken noodle soup or other european based recipes:

Ingredients

  • 1 onion

  • 2 carrots

  • 2 celery stalks

  • 2 cloves garlic (optional)

  • Fresh or dried herbs.  (thyme, rosemary, oregano, parsley and sage or a combination is great.  For fresh herbs use a sprig or two of each.  Sage and rosemary are strong.  I’d stick to a single smallish sprig of each.)

  • Salt and pepper to taste.

  1. Wash your veggies and herbs in cool water scrubbing away dirt.

  2. Cut the ends of the onion.  Cut in half.  It is optional to remove the skin.  If you leave it on, the broth will be yellower.

  3. Break or cut carrots and celery into a few pieces.

  4. Follow basic broth recipe

  5. Add veggies and herbs to the pot.  No need to strip or cut herbs as you will be straining them out.

  6. Strain broth and store or use.
