Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 2 tbs neutral oil

  • 1 Medium Onion, chopped

  • 2 medium carrots, cut on a bias

  • 2 stalk celery, cut on a bias

  • 4 cups broccoli florets

  • ½ cup chopped scallion

  • 3 cloves garlic grated 

  • 2 inch piece (About the size of your thumb) ginger, grated

  • 3 tbs soy sauce

  • 3 tbs mirin

  • 2 tbs rice ving

  • Pinch 5 spice powder

  • 1/4 cup white wine 

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions


  1. Combine 5-spice,  soy sauce, mirin, vinegar,  ginger, scallion, and garlic in a bowl set aside for 14 minutes

  2. Heat oil over medium high heat in a large pan with a lid

  3. Add onion, celery, carrot and a pinch of salt to the pan and stir frequently until vegetables begin to soften.

  4. Add beef and break into bite sized pieces.  Let meat brown and moisture evaporate.

  5. Stir in sauce and reduce  for 3 minutes.

  6. Stir in broccoli and cook 2 minutes

  7. Add wine and reduce heat to medium low. Cover and steam until broccoli is tender.

  8. Remove lid cook 2 more minutes, stirring frequently.

  9. Serve with rice.
